Snack Time.
Snacks are very important to a young child. Did you know that snacks take up to one-third of the daily caloric intake? Well it does. Young children have high-energy requirement and a small stomach. That’s why kids are so hyper and don’t eat as much. Their appetite may change from day to day bases depending on the growth spurts or the high-energy recreation. The importance of snacks will help the kid stay stable until the next meal because children’s eating habits are largely determine by the age of two. So it’s important as a teacher to teach good nutrition to our young children.
You may say, what are good snacks to feed our children? Well, the best snacks to are anything with high nutrients, carbohydrates, and protein, and include foods rich in vitamins A and C. The food pyramid will tell us that we should eat six to eleven servings per day from the bread, cereal, rice, and pasta group. We obviously should feed our children smaller portion than us adults. We should make snack fun like adding color or making shapes. Sometime its even fun if we make little characters out of our food. Snack time should be fun. We also have to make sure our kids eat there vegetables we do want them to grow up to be strong and healthy. So by serving five fruits and vegetables each day would be ideal, but not the one that comes from a can because that is full of sugar and corn syrup. Our idea is to feed our children what is healthy as possible. Dairy is also a major part in our kid’s health. Children who are under two are recommended to drink whole milk anyone who is older than the age of two it’s important to drink two percent or fat free. By adding meat to there snack also give them protein for their growth development and such a good source of iron.
