Steps to Writing a Grant Proposal

In grant proposal writing process the steps will be different, depending on the program. The steps however will always be the same. Attention to detail is very important in this process because applications are only accepted on certain dates. Once your application has been filed your agency will be notified of the guidelines. The program PEACE Domestic violence agency, the first step would be to figure out the most important need of the agency this is based on the community they are serving. In this paper I will address the problem that is of extreme need for this community as well as introduce my program, and provide the steps that would be needed to put a grant proposal together.

For the city of Portland they have had a very large problem with domestic violence in youth, spousal, child abuse, and assault. Also a large number of road rage incidents within the community these are very critical needs because they can lead to death and other serious injuries. I believe that people who end up in domestic violence situations stay there because they feel as if they are stuck and cannot get out. Most times it is because they do not receive any support from friends and family so they don’t know where to turn. They are afraid to go to agencies for help because they are not sure if they can go in confidence. Women especially will stay in situations because they are afraid that if they try to leave they will be found because by law the authorities are notified so with my program I would follow proper procedures but making sure that each person feels safe under any circumstances. It is senseless to keep losing innocent lives to something that can be prevented. I have also learned in these situations if there are children involved they act out in school and other places this problem results in bullying and other violent acts. Funding is good in these circumstances but, the results are slim because they need an outlet and someone to talk to the best thing for this program would be an option for shelter and counseling service.

Addressing these problems so that adequate funding is given would mean that you find your objective, what reason and what concern it will address. For this agency I would design a mentoring outreach program “called helping hands. This program would provide a place where individuals could come to seek counseling and a safe place to stay. Also getting them involved in different things within in the community so that they do not become complacent. My target group of course would be women and children even though men can suffer as well but the female and younger generations seem to suffer the most. I we would also supply ways for them to get job training to be able to stand on their own as well as provide tutoring and any other help that was needed. The process would begin with an abstract or request for proposal in this you would find information pertaining to the organization, things like what group you are placing
