Company Reorganization, Part 4: Developing Organizational Structure and Culture

Kelsey Central Administration will learn how leaders influence staff member, parents and the community to develop the knowledge, skills, and values needed to operate an effective school administration for the Kelsey Unified School District. In order to understand the task of leadership, it is important to identify the qualities of strong leaders and recognize personal leadership skills. They have identified techniques for shaping organizational structure and culture by empowering others.

New Organizational Structure

The justification for the new organizational design was based on the current organizational design structure for Kelsey Central Administration. The Superintendent is the head of the administration. The Superintendent has assistants that are in charge of human resources, curriculum and education departments listed under the Superintendent. There are other individuals report to the Superintendent as well such as the assistant principal, director of school community, chief financial officer, executive director of operations, and director of facilities. The assistant principal, director school community and executive director do not have employees who report to them. Therefore, they are listed after the Superintendent’s assistants. The chief financial officer and director of facilities each have employees who report to them as well which are listed (See Appendix).

New Organizational Culture

The Kelsey Central Administration Reorganization Team will implement a communicative strategy to shape culture and influence positive relationships within the Kelsey Central Administration and the community. The organization culture is the framework, which provides strength to an organization and is used to resolve problems within the organization and the external environment. Organizational culture refers to a system of shared meaning held by members that distinguishes the organization from other organizations (Robbins & Judge, 2011). The internal community of Kelsey Central Administration must take the lead and represent a strong and effective culture in which organizational communication is evaluated and is the avenue for creating an ongoing collective and individual action.

One of the most important activities of an organization is the communication. Communication helps individuals and groups to harmonize their activities to achieve goals and is dynamic with the process of socialization, decision making, and problem solving and management changes. Communication can help motivate employees, and build trust. Organizational communication provides continuous feedback for learning and processing fundamental organizational changes.
