Abstract
When the client application ask for information, it begins at the application layer and runs its way down to the physical layer, when the packet is collected as the server, it works in opposite. Thus the packet progresses from layer one all the way through layer seven where the application on the server can sort out the information.

The numerous steps in computer networking can be broadly assembled into the OSI mode. Numerous protocols that relate to the networking layers exist in the phases of the OSI layers mode. A system administrator should know the purpose of these protocols so as to have an enhanced knowledge of computer networking. Before the OSI reference model, interaction with other body’s and assorted vendors was tremendously complicated. This was for the reason that all of the vendors would have dissimilar systems to interconnect. As a result, to communicate with these diverse entities of the separate vendors, there came a necessity to have a collective program. This prerequisite compelled the International Organization for Standards to possess a practicable and collectively conventional platform; there the OSI reference model was created. It firsts starts with the Application Layer, this is the topmost layer of the OSI reference model. This layer comes in to play when there is a process to process communication. When a user raises an application all the linked processes are run. Next is the Presentation Layer, this layer poses a variety of methods of information density which are used to send and receive the optimized information. The compression and decompression of the information is handled by the
