Self-Efficacy and Student’s Attitude Towards E-Learning

In this chapter, we would aim to provide answers to the research questions that are mentioned in chapter one through designing the plan of research, specifying research framework and construct the hypothesis theory in order to test the suggested IV.
The DV is to measure student attitude towards E-Learning System within University Utara Malaysia, and to identify the reliability of this DV, an IV of Self- efficacy which is one's belief in one's ability to succeed in specific situations or accomplish a task (wiki) was suggested and its relationship to the DV is that Self efficacy influences the motive to learn through E-learning and DV is the usefulness of the E-learning system and its effectiveness.
The significance of self-efficacy is that the higher the confidence level students have to complete their e-learning tasks, lead to more positive attitude towards e-learning system, For instance, students with high self-efficacy are able to get the information faster through e-learning system compared to low self-efficacy, hence the perceived usefulness of the online learning increases which indicates that self-efficacy will positively or negatively affect the student’s attitude towards e-learning system.
2.1 STUDENT’S ATTITUDE TOWARDS E-LEARNING
2.1.1 Definition of Attitude and E-Learning
Attitude can be defined from different perspectives. Griffin, W. R. & Moorhead, G. (2014) defined an attitude as a person complex of beliefs and feelings about specific situations, ideas and other people that formed around on behavioural intention, affect and sequence of cognition which is influence people to behave in the future. Next, according to Allport, G. W. (1935) attitude is a mental of readiness or tendency to act in particular way. In addition, Jowell, R. (2005) said attitude is psychological tendency to view behaviour with a degree of favour or disfavour through a process of subjective evaluation but also influenced by related beliefs and emotional responses.
Definition of e-learning according to Hall, B. (1997) is instruction that delivered electronically through internet, intranet and multimedia platform such as DVD. Besides, Allen, M. W. (2003) state e-learning is purposeful use of electronic system, structured or computer in support of the learning process. Next, Sun, P.C., Tsai, R. J., Finger, G., Chen, Y. Y., & Yeh, D. (2006) said e-learning is deliver information for education and training using telecommunication technology. According to Weggan & Urdan (2000), E-learning can be viewed as the course content that been delivered using electronic media, such as Internet, Intranets and Extranets
