The Role of Driver Acceptance in the Implementation of variable Speed Limit Systems
The way the paper is composed and the approach is fair enough but I think that the data source and conclusion drawn from the surveys does not seem appropriate.
• The title and the abstract says that paper discuss about the impact of driver acceptance in the implementation of VSLs but actually the paper is just a survey study of individual perceptions about the VSL system (only few lines are present about that in the discussion part)
• According to the research study (ref 10) of the evaluation of VSL system performance for the same location, positive results in terms of mobility and safety are expressed then why does the survey leads to the opposite result?
• It’s not clear when the survey was open for the users during the study period.
• Multiple surveys from individuals were not fully restricted
• People who never drove through the VSL zone or have never experienced travelling through VSL might have completed the surveys because of which the reliability of the survey can be questioned.
• If the survey was continuous as mentioned in the line 14, page 6, and everyone was supposed to fill the survey form once, then there is a possibility that few people complete the survey during the start of the study period and later they may have a different opinion regarding the VSL
• Surveys were available online for the local people and many people might not have responded to the surveys because of lack of computer knowledge.
• The sample size (1030 + 355) is relatively small as compared to the users of the I-270/I-255. So conclusions based on this survey could be inappropriate.
• Regarding the mobility and satisfaction, the individual responses are effective but for the safety,
