PREFACE
For a country which till recently had a weak civil society movement, India is now witnessing a boom in the NGO sector. With a population of 1.2 billion, the country is a land of opportunities for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with 20 lakh of them already operating in states and union territories. Despite such impressive numbers much is desired in their functioning to make them more effective and efficient.
This report aims to understand the functions and analyse the impact of Balajee Sewa Sansthan(BSS) and identify and suggest areas of improvement for BSS. It aims to understand the various projects that BSS is currently engaged in with the under privileged of the society such as SHG groups, Micro-finance, health drives etc, initiatives taken by BSS, challenges faced and benefit of to the society due to efforts of BSS. By analysing these factors we aim to identify and suggest areas of improvement. The report uses an interaction based approach with a combined methodology of field visits and data analysis to reach the above mentioned objectives.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
MBA course at NMIMS gives its students a unique opportunity to engage in a civic-engagement internship to understand and develop sensitivity towards the various issues that affect our society. We were placed with Balajee Sewa Sansthan- A Dehradun based NGO.
