Human-Environmental Interaction:
During the past 22 years many things have changed in Costa Rica, for example the shorelines have become more developed which has transformed the Costa Rican beaches, but has also been trashed by litter and pollution. Cities have also become less safe because of the drug wars and proliferation of firearms. Before this change very few feared for their lives and felt free, now many people feel very little freedom. San José has become cleaner and more livable, aside from the crime rate increasing. Less pollution, pedestrian boulevards, improved traffic flow and urban reforestation are signs of better things to come to in Costa Rica.
Government has also been becoming more competent and responsible for the Costa Rican civilians. It has been growing because of its better public administration efforts to support visitors and its yearly civilians. The economy has also been becoming more public and private. Financial institutions are weathering the crisis in relatively good shape, mainly thanks to serious and sober management and effective regulation.
