I think the ending of the story is somewhat the grandmother's fault. "A Good Man is Hard to Find" begins with an innocent road trip, however, due to coercion by the Grandmother; it soon turns into a fatal nightmare. She insists that the family go to Florida instead of Tennessee, she got the kids all excited about the old plantation story and they convince Bailey to go there. However, the old plantation was actually in Tennessee, she is so startled by this realization that she let go of her car. The cat propelled onto Bailey's shoulder that he lost control and caused the car veers off the road and flip over. After being saved from the dramatic car accident, they got captured by The Misfit and was shoot dead by his men in the woods.
