A strong conversation is where people feel safe. They are aware of the tone of the topic, by the way you talk. They feel free to contribute to the conversation without feeling like their opinion isn't wanted. Both people in the conversation need to stay open-minded about the topic or topics that may come up later in the conversation. Keep the conversation professional if you are talking to a co-worker or a possible boss. The most important part of the conversation is what everyone involved walks away with. The new information that everyone gained after the conversation.

One really efficient way to achieve a strong conversation is to be very clear on what you what to get across. Make sure everyone feels free to comment on the topic. Make sure your attitude towards the topic is relevant to the topic. People won't want to put there commentary out there if they feel you have a bad attitude about the topic. When someone is making a comment or saying their opinion on the topic always keep an open mind and try to think of why they think or said that.

It is very important to think about what you are saying and who you are saying it to. You won't talk to your boss like he is your best friend, that's unprofessional. Talk to your boss and co-workers in a professional manner. But even talking to your friends you should still considerate of their opinions. A strong conversation is where everyone feels safe and confident. Its where everyone's voice matters and that their opinions won't be put down or just brushed off. Having a strong conversation is very affectful and you can get a lot better responses from people in everyday conversation.
