The Great gatsby by Fitzgerald a novel in 1920’s during this decade huge parties are everywhere and lots of alcohol. The Great Gatsby a story about the american dream focuses on the main character Gatsby.Nick is the narrator in this story he is Gatsby close friend. Gatsby attempt to reunite with Daisy after five years having a lot of money and try to impress her and win her away from her husband, Tom Buchanan. He almost achieve his goal to win Daisy but tragic event happened he died. Character, Symbol Reference, and Theme are most important concept in the story of The Great Gatsby.
Nick Carraway is Daisy’s second cousin he is very hardworking person, he moves to New York to learn bond business and soon to befriend to his next neighbor Jay Gatsby. He always get involved with other characters. He always stock with other character and its hard to him to get out. “ I have been drunk just twice in my life, and the second time was that afternoon” ( Fitzgerald 29). This quote shows nick involve himself in difficult situation and rather than exit the situation he copes. He also help reunite a romance between his cousin Daisy and Gatsby. Gatsby is a very wealthy man he live in the mansion next to Nick house. He is popular because he always thrown a ostentatious party he always in the news and news paper, but people don’t know how and where he get his money. “Somebody told me that he kill a man once.” “It’s more than that he was a german spy during the war”. “You look at him sometimes when he thinks nobody’s looking at him. I bet he killed a man” (Fitzgerald 44). Just some of the rumors surrounding Gatsby and his wealth. “The modesty of the demand shook me. He had waited five years and bought a mansion where he dispensed starlight to casual moths so that he could come over some afternoon to a stranger’s garden” (Fitzgerald 78). Everything he does just to win Daisy love. He thrown a ostentatious parties in the hope that Daisy will show up at one.
Fitzgerald use symbolic reference in this story to help and understand the readers what he trying to show. The “green light” at the end of Daisy’s Buchanan dock becomes the most important symbol in “The Great Gatsby”. Green is the color of hope and dream.“He stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way, and, far as I was from him, I could have sworn he was trembling”. Involuntarily I glanced seaward and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of a dock” (Fitzgerald 20-21). To Gatsby the green light represent his dream, which is daisy. The green light describe far away that is impossible to reach, this prove to be true for Gatsby. Gatsby dream of a future with Daisy represented the green light. The eyes of Doctor T. J.
