Alex and Melinda Quarterly Performance Meeting

In the video of Melinda and Alex, Melinda Perez is a saleswoman that has been assigned in the Mexico and Brazil territory because of her cultural background and language, and Alex Baker, her boss, is the territory manager of the company that sells diet products and nutritional supplements. A meeting has been scheduled to discuss work issues related to the sales, which were down by 40% for the quarter. Numerous mistakes have revealed throughout the video by all parties including but not limited to the corporation, sales division, personnel division, and strategist division for foreign countries specifically Mexico and Brazil. Lack of competition comparison sales reports, personnel, and all related activities required to move into new foreign country with a 100% different living style.
Alex did not display leadership and management skills. He is lacking of leading skills such as listening, communicating, to name a few, which has affecting his employee’s performance. Prior to Melinda’s assignment position it seems that there were no empowerment characteristics preparing her for this completely new and different corporate obligation in a foreign country with different personal and professional skill requirements. There was no monthly progress telephone conference initiated by Alex to ascertain her professional and or personal needs or requirements. Alex’s poor leadership/management skills displayed. On the other hand there was no professional courtesy upon Melinda entering his office and by rising to greet her and offering her any “comfort-hospitality.” No real front-end interaction with Melinda. Melinda should not have accepted the transfer to Mexico/Brazil without having received acceptable cultural, ethics, language, personal assistant, and a “specific one year sales budget” for a new foreign territory. Her past performance should not be compared to this new territory with no corporate experience. However, Melinda should have not participated with any personal relationships with customers
