Behavioral Guidelines

1. Enhance your personal power in the organization by:

a. Developing your knowledge and skills to the point of becoming an acknowledged expert.

i. In this area I have over the better part of my career developed my skills in the areas I managed with upmost energy and knowledge. In all areas I became the go to person for those areas and more. This power I have in this area is mostly developed. My motto is always to learn one new thing each day.

b. Enhancing your attractiveness to others, for example, by fostering the attributes of friendship (genuineness, intimacy, acceptance, validation of self-worth, tolerance, and social exchange).

2. Increase the centrality of your position by:

a. Expanding your network of communication contacts.

i. I am constantly broadening my contacts and always look to see who I can associate with to improve my abilities to accomplish my goals. I know that it may sound like common sense but many don’t know that even the “little” guys are important to know and communicate. Even the custodian is important to make sure things look good for that important visit. Never take anyone for granted is my motto here.

b. Staying abreast of relevant information.

i. Staying on top of what’s going on is very important. If you live with your “head in the sand” how will you know the pulse of the people around you and those whom you have affected?
