SUBJECT: Choose one textile manufacturer as our new fabric supplier
Recommendation
After the 10-day visit to our four potential suppliers located in United States (North Carolina), Italy, India, and China, we believe that it is most beneficial for our company to choose the textile manufacturer in China as our new lightweight and stretchable fabric supplier. Here is my proposal for this recommendation.
Data Comparison and Analysis
I will first summarize and briefly analyze the data we have collected.
Quality and Availability Chart
*Scores are illustrated on a total of 10; higher score reflects better performance
Supplier | Fabric Quality | Existing Inventory | Production Speed | Total Score |
United States | 8 | 3 | 5 | 16 |
Italy | 10 | 1 | 3 | 14 |
India | 5 | 10 | 8 | 23 |
China | 9 | 8 | 10 | 27 |
As indicated in the chart above, our recommended China supplier ranks top 2 among all three individual categories, including “Fabric Quality”, “Existing Inventory”, and “Production Speed”. It also adds up to the highest total score, which stands for the best overall performance.
Cost Analysis Chart
*Scores are illustrated on a total of 10; lower score reflects lower cost
Supplier | Shipping Cost | Production Cost | Total Score |
United States | 2 | 8 | 10 |
Italy | 5 | 10 | 15 |
India | 8 | 2 | 10 |
China | 7 | 1 | 8 |
In regarding with cost, two major aspects are analyzed in above chart. Despite its relatively higher shipping cost, our recommended China supplier has the lowest production cost which contributes to its lowest total score, which means it will be most profitable.
