I have had so much experience in coming to conclusions and making decisions, but a majority of them were not fully thought out and rushing. Utilizing the decision-making process really helped me make the best decisions possible in a timely manner. Some of the decisions may lead to a positive effect or even a negative in any personal or business situation. When it comes to business I try to not mix it with anything personal.
Working as a manager I was accustom to the process of hiring someone here and there, but I remember having to hire a large number of employees. It seemed like no big deal in the beginning, but almost every candidate had something great to offer the company and filled out everything we looked for. The decision-making process played a very big part in my decisions and took everything into consideration and so many comparisons were made.
I made sure to identify the opportunity from each applicant and from there I gathered as much as important information as possible. I looked at every situation possible and match the personalities of every applicant and look at the answers given from every question. From this point I make my options and see what would be the one that has the best impact without changing too much. I check any alternatives and see which would be preferred by those who are to help in the hiring process. In the end, I make my decision.
My biggest challenge in the decision-making process was the decision itself. It was hard to let someone who was qualified, but not qualified enough, know that we would only keep their application on file, but would not be hiring them at the moment. Of course it was not all negative because if any of my decisions were to fall out, then there would be someone next in line.
I find that the process was very effective. Honestly it was going to be slower than me just making my decision, but it was well worth it. I would have just made my decision quickly and of course my not have made the best decision for the company at the time, but someone who we would have needed more than the other may have been turned away.
