Decision Making Process
Recently my fiancé and I got engaged; I began my journey back to school to get my Bachelor's degree in Business management, and we closed on our first home the end of August. There are many personal decisions I have had to make amongst all of the above, but the most difficult was to go back to school. It was a difficult decision to make in assessing how I would adequately apply my time with everything else going on. Along with work my days are filled to the max, and I wanted to ensure that this was the right decision.
When I began the process of deciding if going back to college there were several steps that I had to do in order to begin the process of going back to college. The first was to identify the problem (Bateman & Snell, 2011) which was an important step that I had to make. I enjoy my current position but have seen other positions that I am interested in, but not qualified for because I did not have a bachelor's degree. In order to further along my career and I knew that the timing couldn't be better to go back to further my education. I also had to discuss with my fiancé and my parents regarding the financial aspect of what the tuition would cost me with my employer having a tuition reimbursement program.
The second step of generating alternative solutions (Bateman & Snell, 2011) did not apply to my decision-making process. The third step of evaluating alternatives was assessed when discussing the financial part of my college education (Bateman & Snell, 2011). The fourth step was making a choice (Bateman & Snell, 2011). I found in the long run that going back to college and getting my Bachelor's would benefit me more in the long run more than it would if I chose not to. Getting my degree would allow me to further my career and make a better salary to assist in supporting our family we hope to have one day.
