Overview of the Food Truck Industry in Canada
The food truck industry in Canada is becoming increasingly attractive with its low start-up cost, flexibility and ability to generate a profitable return. According to research the annual growth of the food truck industry is 2.3% with yearly revenue of some 280 CAD, the industry has shifted from being insignificant startups to an established category in Canada’s food landscape. Persons are moving from eating at a restaurant to a cheaper fresher option that is easy to access as the food comes to the customers unlike restaurants.
Aim of the Research
To examine this case and produce a model from which Sally Fry can use to determine where to sell and at what price to charge for her burgers by city and advise Sally on her best options secondary data was used. Facts from the case along with information collected by Sally over the past year in addition to use of online journals and articles to better understand the industry in which Sally has a foreseeable future.
Research Questions
- Find a Function that Fry can use to estimate the daily demand for burgers
- Predict the profit Fry could make with each city-and- price combination
- Where should Fry go, and how much should she charge?
Fry’s Burgers Overview
Sally Fry started operated a food truck business in 2013 after realizing that she can put her creativity to better use. Fry’s Burger was born and offered a tasty and fresh burger to customers using fresh toppings from local suppliers. Fry’s Burgers were sold in Hamilton, Waterloo, London and Toronto. Fry’s Burger generated a profit over the last year of operation and would like to continue doing so.
