- Identification of issues and problems
This section presents the major problem and the reason caused this problem in the study. It also describes the optimistic and passive aspects of the method of management and activities. The major problem in the case is that team has a poor performance. The reason cause this situation is that the team lack of a leader. Successful top managers and middle managers with less professional achievement mixed together made the team complex. As a result of, middle managers are easily to jump out the topic that will affect the group members away from the center topic. Similarly, it will far away the topic if the leader cannot let the team members back to the topic immediately. Owen (2011) states that ‘The leader is a group role that is associated with a high-status position and may be formally or informally recognized by group members. Leadership is a complex of beliefs, communication patterns, and behaviors that influence the functioning of a group and move a group toward the completion of its task.’.
To begin with, there are no powerful leader in every teams in this study. Team A has shown a good performance on goal achievement. The reason for this phenomenon is that all of group members are smart and successful. Maner and Mead (2010) represented that leaders prioritized the benefits of the group over themselves. Also, Team A have no longer debate during group working, which is a little weird that everyone in group are too much respect for each other’s statement. Actually, debate with each other in group can lead to the conflict, conflict also good for the thoughts of group members. Franz and Timothy (2012) claim that ‘Communication and trust are interrelated because communication is a social factor that impacts the level of trust.’ This implies that the member s of Team A not trust each other, therefore, they are lack of deep communication. In addition, Team A have no chat during the conversation, even after. If they make a side comment, the speaker will stop talking and remind everyone back on track. After the meeting, they just go away do their thing by themselves.
