The Maricopa County Clerk of Court has many training courses available to promote and train leaders. This paper will define the leadership within the organization of Maricopa County Clerk of Court. The Clerk of Court is the division of the court responsible for housing the public records for Superior Court including civil, criminal, family, probate and justice court case files. Leadership is important for this organization because they process millions of requests a month. This leadership is important because of the changes that take place on a large scale because of the volume of employees.
Leaders can have many roles in creating and maintaining a healthy organizational culture. Some of these roles range from motivators and goal setters. Positive or negative reinforces and punishment or extinction is different types of techniques used when a manager is trying to keep a healthy organizational culture. For example, the Maricopa County Clerk of Court uses both positive and negative reinforcement but not much of punishment or extinction. Clerk of court employees have seen that when a coworker is late for work repeatedly and all that happens is a discussion and maybe eventually receiving a memorandum of understanding. Obviously, a discussion or at worst a memorandum of understanding is not enough for an employee to change his or her behavior. Now if the Clerk of Court were to start using punishment or extinction then maybe the employees would change their behavior because they will then know that their job may be at risk. The role of the motivator is to ensure that the employees are motivated to get the work required by them completed in a timely manner and at the same time a high quantity of work. This will ensure that the employee will have a good performance review and will also ensure that the organization will have high productivity. The goal setters’ role is to ensure that the goals are set high enough to inspire better performance but not so high that the employees can never achieve them. Goals set too high can have the opposite of the desired effect, and can cause employees to become discouraged and unmotivated. The goal setter role can be difficult because the goal that the manager sets for an employee will change for each individual. Some employees are capable of a drastic goal and will achieve what is set for them, although some employees do not have the capability or drive to complete drastic goals set for them. This is when the employee becomes unmotivated and sometimes will also end up producing less than he or she did before the goal was set.
Globalization and leadership have changed across borders as it relates to organizational culture. When globalization is introduced into an organization the impact is great to the employees.
