Contingency Theory of Leadership
Description of work environment I would have a place that would be made up of a video game sell shop. We will sell new and used video games as well as new and used systems and accessories. Everyone must have a knowledge of video games, and be able to be friendly with customers.
In the table below, categorize different leadership approaches that could be used in the work environment you have described. Provide different suggestions for each of the four approaches to leadership.
Directive approach Supportive approach
Employees must follow a dress code that will be enforced for them to wear. All employees must follow all policies word for word. I will put up a work schedule so employees know ahead of time when they will be working. There will be a quarterly raise based on their work performance. There will not be any tolerance for rudeness to customers at all. Mangers will be in the work place to help employees with any questions or problems they may need help with. Treat all of the employees equal at all time. Share positive things that the employees do. My employees would be trained to be the best they can be at their job.
Participative approach Achievement-oriented approach
I will listen to my employee’s comments and questions. There will be weekly meeting held between supervisors and employees to talk about any concerns they are having. There will also be a meeting between supervisors and management to find ways to resolve and problems that need to be addressed. I will set individual goals for my employees to reach.
