The responsibility of a pubic or political figure is to lead or manage and cultivate a town, state, district or even an entire country. Time has given us a historical list of public and political leaders. Some of these leaders will go down in history as good and others as bad, but they all have devoted their lives for the benefit of their country and the people living in these countries. Political figures are perceived to be politicians only concern with how much money they can make and govern states during peace times but also during times of crisis. They are in an official capacity and are responsible for creating and executing strategies and policies meant to better the interests of the country they serve(Internet). These public figures and politicians have been chosen through various processes, some examples of which would be by electoral votes, in a democratic nation, and through lineage or birthright, in case of a monarchy, or even dictatorships wherein one individual declares himself the head of state. If you conduct a search on political leaders the research page would reveal famed names like John H. Johnson, Alice Paul, Ariel Sharon, Abdoulaye Wade and even Alexei Kosygin. This paper will discuss Chris Christie: The New Jersey Governor and his leadership and management styles (Morton, 2011).
Chris Christie was born in 1962 as Christopher James Christie of Newark, New Jersey. Governor Christie is the Republican governor of New Jersey and is known for his unconventional leadership style. Governor Christie started his political career as an ambitious newcomer and immediately began planning his run for State Assembly, even if it meant challenging well-established party regulars who stood in his way. He is brash and knows where he stands on important issues. He is clear in his statements and there is no guessing what he meant about what he has said. Governor Christie is considered a very strong straightforward speaker.
As a leader one of the most important qualities the person should posses is being able to react effectively during times of crisis or an emergency. Governor Christie showed his strength during Hurricane Irene during his speech to the people of New Jersey. The Governor lead his people not by failure to act but in providing them with information about major issues and the dangers they would face during flooding in the State.
