Decision Making Process
After completing my AAS in 2011, I knew that it was time for me to search for employment that aligns with my degree in Accounting. After submitting over hundreds of resumes and creating countless accounts to submit resumes directly to employers, it came down to two companies that had offered a position
Decision Strategy
Even though I had developed a very close relationship with the co-workers at my current employment, I knew that it was the end of the road for me. I assumed that I carefully evaluate and identify the issues at hand to why it would not be a good idea to utilize my degree in my current position. The first issue was the company is privately owned, and the only department that would be suitable for my degree is in the accounting department.
Unfortunately, the accounting department had no openings and very seldom do any positions come available in this department. Over the next two years, I received calls and went to many interviews, but something kept me from not wanting to move forward. I had grown to define my co-workers as my second family. So the thought of moving on scared me and caused sadness at the same time.
I knew that there were other issues that I strongly disagreed with that were taking place. So the first company that called me was a health care company. They offered a little more in salary from what the college offered and it would require me to drive the highway to work. The college position pay was not as much but, I would not have to take the highway.
I chose the college and of course now I realize that maybe the college was not the right choice. Here is why, even though the college location does not require any highway driving, I'm still arriving home even if not later.
