The company explained during the idea generation exercise describes the creation of a hedge fund that focuses on sports. This firm will go under the name of the Black Box Sports Investment Firm and instead of betting on the stock market, the investment firm would be placing wagers on sporting events through sports books in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company would bet on items such as spreads, money lines, and the total points of contests. The catch though coming with how the wagers will be placed; normally an individual just bets on sports through their own thoughts and feelings, with our firm it will be different. Our company will place bets according to information generated by a black box, which will be a computer model developed by mathematical experts and used by the firm to make smarter decisions. So the overall process of the company would involve taking the money that investors put into the business and using this money to develop a workforce that is capable of making the decisions necessary to return a profit to our investors.
“The mission of Black Box Sports will be to provide investors with consistent, profitable growth on their investments through top of the line research and management when it comes to the sports gaming world.” The only way accomplishing this mission statement will be possible is through the hiring of many employees who are considered among the best in their fields. As the creator of the business, I will be the acting Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible with the total performance of the company. This means that among my responsibilities will be having the final say in all hiring decisions. The two positions that I will be looking to fill deal with quantitative research and management. Hiring quantitative experts will be the most important job the firm will have due to the fact that like many other fields, sports gambling has undergone a quantitative revolution in the past decade. It will be these experts task to develop a system that will be able to be plugged into a computer and simulate the outcomes of sporting events with the goal of accurately predicting the outcome. These individuals will be absolutely essential to the success of the company. The next position that will be hired are the managers of the business, these will basically be the company’s financial planners and will be responsible with the job of interpreting the data generated from the black boxes and making the final decisions when it comes to the bets being placed. The Black Box Sports Investment Firm will also have a board of directors made up of five individuals; two of which will be industry experts, two of the firms’ top investors, and the final member being myself.
This company will be ran exactly like a corporation,
