I. The Problem and its Background

Philippines are one of the emerging countries that attract multinational companies because of its economic outlook. A basic consideration of the government’s policy of attracting foreign investments is the prospect of their generating additional employment opportunities.

a. Significance of the Study

The study focuses on explaining the effects of a multicultural workplace on Filipino employees in multinational company. The result of the study could be significant to the following:

To the participating companies. This study will benefit participating companies for the reason that companies as well as the Filipino employees in their respective organization will have further knowledge and awareness on how the communication barriers and other challenges on employees affect their performance in a multicultural workplace. Understanding the different culture of the employees will strengthen the employee-employer relationship and even employee to employee relationship and thus will give insights on whether the cultural awareness will be practiced by employees that will lead to a stronger employee relation. The participating company can also come up with what kind of intercultural management competence the managers of the participating companies need in their daily work. The companies can also develop multicultural diversity training programs which is needed to build better work relationship among employees

To the Academe. This study will provide the academe further knowledge towards diversified place like UA&P. This study will provide them on what are the possible effects of a place that has many cultures specially those students that are coming from different countries. The information from these variables will give advantage to the academe in gaining more knowledge and thus can be applied to their field of expertise. This will also
