PR is the practice of managing the communication between an organization and its publics such as:

consumers, investors, industry analysts, and government officials

Why public relations is important? The answer is simple: companies with a good public image does better than less-respected companies. Therefore, smart corporations use public relations to build and protect their reputations. They maintain press relations with broadcast media so that they can give effective news releases and hold effective news conferences, which are standard PR tools.

Now, enough of the theory, and let's move on to our example, which is a project of TEO LT “Save Resources and Change Yourself” (aka “Tausok ir keiskis”). The idea of this project was to shift towards eco-friendly corporate culture and to work on environment protection becoming a value for the employees. TEO's message was that small eco-habits may have huge accumulated impact.

The whole project's philosophy was based on the values of voluntarism and belief that saving environment must be fun, rather than imposed by corporate rules.

This idea has been implemented in 2007. A special logo and visual style has been created for the project. It is a four-leaf clover which has been selected as a symbol for its simplicity and meaning of bringing luck. What is more, posters warning not to cut the branch you're sitting on have been hanged as well as stickers have been used to remind to save paper and water.

In addition to this, a new set of eco-obligations has been introduced to employees of TEO. They have been encouraged to stop using plastic cups and start sorting their waste. The picture on the screen shows the inspiring recycle bin for plastics.
