I have been toying with the idea of preparing for the BSc (Hon) programme of the Oxford Brookes University ever since I noticed the opportunity when I was studying for my ACCA foundation examinations. So I waited till I completed all subjects of the foundation stage; when I did, I started serious work on my RAP.
The topic that I have selected for this Research and Analysis Project (RAP) is the topic No: 8 “The business and financial performance of an organisation over a three year period”. I consider the analysis of business and financial performance of a company is one of the most essential aspects of the present day accounting profession.
Here, by analysing the performance of a real company, I have had the opportunity to apply my theoretical knowledge into a practical situation. I believe that by applying the learnt skills to a real world setting will widen my knowledge of various financial and business analysis techniques.
Furthermore, I have lived on the PSI estate as a young child with my family when my father was the financial controller of the company. The vivid memories of the plush sugar cane fields and the enthralling factory complex are still afresh in my mind; I admired the company for its size and beautiful location. The PSI became a natural choice to me when I had to decide on a company for my research work.
So I wanted contribute to the advancement of this company through my study as I felt it more or less like my duty since I am now qualified to carry out such a study.
Through this study and submission of the project I earnestly hoped to achieve one of my long -cherished goals of obtaining the BSc degree of Oxford Brookes University.
