BUSINESS PROBLEM ANALYSIS

The purpose of this paper is to inform supervisors of a serious problem at Joe’s Pizza store #1234. Customer complaints are becoming more frequent. This paper will (1) determine the possible reasons for these complains, (2) explore the possible effects on the company if the complaints aren’t rectified, and (3) determine the problem that is causing the increase in complaints.

Reasons for complaints

Customers are expecting deliveries to be completed in 30 minutes but have been recently receiving deliveries in an hour or more. An understaffed kitchen is producing food in an untimely fashion with limited drivers to handle the amount of deliveries. The available staff tends to arrive late and rarely follows instructions from management. Drivers are complaining of getting lost due to inaccurate addresses on phone orders. The delivery area is also quite large when compared to other delivery areas.

Complaints also include inaccurate orders. This is a result of an undertrained kitchen staff mishandling phone orders and undertrained drivers forgetting parts of an order.

Effects of customer complaints

One of the obvious effects of customer complaints is a loss in sales. Dissatisfied customers often demand refunds. The average order amount is $18.00 and the average store yields $16,000 per week in sales. Only 10 disgruntled customers per day will produce an 8% sales drop. Dissatisfied customers will also harm future sales because they are not likely to return and will tell other potential customers about their poor experience.
