“ Who is my idea servant leader”
Every person can be a leader, but only some can become a servant leader. Being a servant leader is different from being a leader. A servant leader is someone who takes account all members of the organization, while a leader is someone who takes account of the overall output of the organization. My ideal servant leader would be my grandparents.
Since elementary and high school I have always been a leader, but I have never experienced being a servant leader. Throughout my experience as a leader, my goal was to have a good output, but as I watched my grandparents lead the workers in the company I now realize that my way of leading was a wrong approach.
I entered DLS with the mindset that I should take an opportunity to become leader, but as I continue to observe my grandparent’s way of leading I realized that rather than being a leader I should experience the feeling of being a member or follower. With this new mindset, I joined three organizations in which I am a member. I became more aware how different each individual is being a leader, some are takes account of all member, while some does not. As I continue to observe, not all individual have the ability of a servant leader.
My grandparents made me see that a servant leader should be humble and listens to his or her members. A servant leader should be humble enough not to use his or her title to show hierarchy in the organization, and should have good listening skills to be able to know the feedback of the members of the organization. A servant leader is rare because not all people are capable to become a servant leader, but one can strive to become one. With the right mindset, one could become a servant leader.
