Best Friends

Remember the first time you felt in love? Remember the first person that broke
your heart? On July 22nd, 2010 I started my new job at Davis Guest Home as I was
meeting everyone I ran across this rather beautiful individual. He glided from one
resident to another, always smiling and making jokes. Every movement was so perfect,
effortless. Too afraid to talk to him I went about my day.
The next day I went back to work hoping to see him again. When I saw him I
thought I would be less of a wall flower. I wanted to get his attention today. Hurt from
the day before I walked up to him and said, “Hi, I’m Veronica.” He just stared at me. He
was not smiling; not his jolly self at all. Then he briskly walked away. I didn’t know what
to do. “Why didn’t he say anything? Is there something wrong with me?” is all I could
think. I went home, started talking to my grandmother and told her about the person I,
sort of, met at work. Her advice was to keep trying to talk to him, maybe he was afraid
of me too. I grabbed my things and headed to the shower, only thinking about the
events that happened today. I got out of the shower, slipped on my favorite pajamas
and went to bed, praying tomorrow would be different.
A year goes by and the only thing I find out about this six feet tall man is his
name, Jonathon. Every day I see him with his radiant green eyes, perfect smile, and red
hair. I wave at him from time to time and he either runs away from me, walks into
