When computers first appeared on the scene, it was thought they would make us more productive in providing goods and services, smarter and possibly happier. Skeptical claim that the opposite is true as computers have proved disappointing in terms of productivity, and have made us less happy and more stupid because information is not knowledge. Which of these point of view do you agree the most? Support your arguent with reasons and examples from your experience and obsevations.
Computers have now become a very essential part of our lives. Both at work and at home it speeds up the work on a daily basis which was not the case earlier, for example paying utiity bills or shoping online. On the contrary, a lot of time is also wasted doing useless activities like playing games and sitting hours on social sites that have now become more or less an obsession. This time could be better spent on more productive activities.
It is bellieved that playing certain games on computer improves a certain skills. However, spending a lot of time at computer can have a negitive impact on people's health, personal and social life. They actually are not left with time for any other productive activites like reading, sports and more. Computers are also responsible for Cyber crimes like identity theft and more
Whether computer makes us smarter or happier is not that easy to answer. However, to conclude in my opinion it is true that information is not knowledge. Computers have made people lazy as all information that they need is easily available on the internet and they do not feel they need to learn things anymore.
