Demonstrate knowledge of general trends in graduate employment and opportunities for graduates in your discipline.

As a student, we all face the same problems when it comes to employment. Most employer wants to hire people that are both academically and have some sort of experience, capable to do the task assign to them. However most of the diploma and even some degree student have never had any working experience on their belt making hiring them a bit more difficult, as they have never experience the working life before. Being said that, if the trend nowadays is that company only wants to hire experience students in to their organization, how can one get experience if no one want to hire inexperience student? Some big employers set the standards too high causes small employers to follow the trend and causes hardship for those graduates students without any working experience.

This goes the same for me, while I was doing my Culinary Arts Diploma in Malaysia, I have never exposed myself to the working environment in the kitchen instead I worked as a Barista for almost two years. I did not know that experience is that important until I started my Bachelor degree in William Angliss. As I am required to work in the hospitality industry for my internship program, I realized that it is hard to get a job without any kitchen experience. I have tried more than 50 different restaurant and hotels, applying as a cook or apprentice chef. However nearly 90 percent of the employer ask whether I have any sort of experience in the kitchen. Without any experience, it is hard to be employed by any company. After weeks and weeks of sending out resumes and going for interviews, I finally got a job in an Asian restaurant. No matter how hard it may be, there will always be a way to archive own goals. I have set my goal to be an executive chef one day and I will try to grab any opportunities that comes my way and learn as much as I can.

Demonstrate understanding of the requirements of graduate employers.

There are a lot of things when it comes to what employers look for in Bachelor degree graduates, from leadership to team players as well as diversity of skills.
