High School vs College
First day of High School brings back so many overwhelming memories. There were students crowded everywhere in one building, seemed like everyone was confused on where to go and how to behave. It seemed like a long time ago but the first day at college brought back those feelings. Even though there weren’t as many people crowded, I felt this devastating sense of confusion. Now a freshman in college, it is somewhat similar to that freshman in high school but with just a little more independence than what I had four years ago. To most students after grammar school it is required to attend high school. However, college is a choice. Though High School teaches us many lesson on the path of becoming mature, college puts those lessons to a test. After all, there are similarities between High School and College as there are many differences.
As a freshman in High School, you may find yourself developing at a speeded rate. You have a little bit more freedom than Middle School, very structured schedule and mostly the same classmates stay with you throughout all four years. In High School, you become more dependent on your teachers and classmates to guide you through all four years but in college you are self-reliant, manage your own time and schedule. On the other hand, depending on others will not help enhance your grades. A High School student needs to manage their time and find ways to study to ensure better results. To know how to manage your time is a learned experience in High School and carries on through College. Also, learning how to manage the time in high school all comes together in College. Although, the environment in College is to be independent, you depend on the skills learned from high school to achieve the independence.
Classes in high school are very defined by the mandatory credits for graduation and these classes are general and distributed on an annual basis. In high school, you have to depend on your teachers for the constant reminder of the completion lecture. However, in college your professors give a simple lecture and it is up to the students to understand the material. Also, the courses are selected by the student based on the choice of major. For both, high school and college are dependent on the achievement or failure of courses.
