Abstract
Facebook has many benefits, but also some risks. One of the risks of Facebook and other social networking is the loss of interaction among friends. Individuals become lazy, addicted to Facebook or do not feel the need for face-to-face interaction so they lose the interest for the face-to-face interaction with others. Students start to feel that social networking is enough to make new friends and keep friendships. These new friends can become worse than a friend, they can be a predator.

Thesis: Facebook has caused many people to lose personal face-to-face interaction with others. Individuals have lost the desire to continue the traditional way of having friendships, that way would be by human interaction. Students now take away time from studying, sports, friends and any other activities so they can spend time on social networks. These social networks have made individuals become lazy and addicted to the internet.
I. Facebook is consuming lives of individuals in current culture.
A) There has been an increased amount of Facebook users over the years.
1) There are about 200 million users today.
2) There are nearly one million new members a day.
B) Many have admitted to spending hours a day on Facebook.
II. Facebook can be addicting and time consuming.
A) Facebook takes students’ attention away from their studies.
1) Students have been known to sit in the back of the classroom, surfing the web and viewing Facebook.
