Executive Summary
Our logistics business has recorded deficits for the past two years due to high intensity of competition recently. The manger has asked to submit a business proposal to break-through this current situation.
The purpose of this research proposal is to discover the feasibility of replacing the existing traditional gasoline trucks with hybrid energy trucks for our enterprise, which can potentially lower the cost of gasoline significantly and increase revenue from our logistics business.
The research will include a full-week hybrid energy truck testing, followed by two weeks data
analysis and assessment.
The main benefits may be summarised as follows:
- Potential incremental revenue by the adopting hybrid energy trucks that lower fuel cost significantly.
- Shapes a social responsible image among society.
1. Introduction
Logistics is one of our major economical pillars for Hong Kong. We have a total of one hundred and eighty-eight trucks providing delivery services to over 18 districts.
Hybrid vehicles are two way-powered system, electric battery and fuel. Although hybrid energy engines have been the standard for private cars, it was not common in delivery trucks due to the mediocre stability and limited load capacity. Nevertheless, we have noticed the progression of battery technology in recent years. This proposal seeks to analysis the practicability of replacing the existing traditional gasoline trucks with hybrid energy trucks. In light of the fact that the fuel expense takes up around fifty-percent of the total cost of our delivery service.
