Research Paper Proposal
Thesis Statement
Politics are the activities that influence the decisions of government, this paper will provide an analysis of the ways in which politics especially urban politics, influence and impact government involvement in urban planning, development and restructuring.
Proposal Summary
Through this paper I seek to analyze the different ways in which politics influences urban planning and development. By looking at the cultural and social perspectives my desire is to identify how these factors affect the decisions made in regard to how plans are developed and executed. Politics can be seen on many levels including race, gender, class, culture, authority and social and economic impacts. Additionally there are different levels of understanding when it relates to politics and what constitutes urban politics. I wish to explore the meaning of urban politics and exactly how these concepts are interrelated to one another, especially considering that urban development impacts all levels of a given society or community. Since government activities affect the public it is important to understand just how these activities can be influenced to detect the greater purpose of serving public interest. Therefore, for this paper I want to explore these concepts so that I can obtain a greater understanding of how urban development and planning can be structured in the best possible way and what should be acknowledged when making such important decisions and plans. To do this I have provided references that I feel will help me to develop this analysis and explore just how politics, mainly urban politics when viewed from different areas of impact can influence the decisions regarding urban development not only in areas in the United States but throughout the world as a whole.
