This book is a case study of 17 different organizations and looks into the role of the Chief Knowledge officer. It discusses the importance of the CKO and their importance in the external market as well as internally in hiring, structuring, and the importance of intellectual capital management. They look into specific cases where the CKO filled the void and propelled a company to greater heights by cutting the knowledge loss and unified different departments. It showed how this position could identify and target the gaps in their systems and improve the business. It is written by a very reputable source, the Amercian Society for Training and development, and provided a great resource for understanding the role of the CKO.

The author had personal experience as a CKO at Knexa.com which is the first knowledge exchange website. This article highlights the roles the CKO must embrace to be successful in an organization. It looks at fortune 500 companies and their dependance on CKO in order to propel them through the modern market. It also looks into the top executive 53 search firms in Canada and USA and perceptions of the CKO. It is an academic research article and endorsed by McMaster University and studied in the school of business.
