ENERGY PLANING PROPOSAL
A request has been made to develop a new energy plan for the Springfield Metropolitan
area. This energy plan request must be able to support the metropolitan area’s future growth as
well. Currently, Springfield requires 3,000 megawatts of energy. Any proposal must consider
and include the metro area’s future growth as the demand for energy will increase with every
year. The initial first year budget of $10,000,000,000.00 is followed with $1,000,000,000.00 for
each year thereafter. The available energy sources up for consideration are nuclear, coal, wind,
geothermal, solar, natural gas, and hydroelectric. From these options an energy source(s) will be
selected and utilized within a sustainable energy plan. The developed proposal plan will show
how the Springfield metropolitan area can sustain itself into the future while staying on track
with an allotted annual budget. Another key component of this proposal will be consideration of
the environment and how a chosen energy source may interact with it. The most efficient and
sustainable source of energy shall be chosen. An energy plan proposal will be accountable for
providing a sound, secure framework for its energy sources to operate in. The Springfield
metropolitan area will be able to rely upon this energy plan; supplying the city with reliable,
sustainable energy long into its future.
Energy and Considerations
The energy needed to power the Springfield metro area requires 3,000 megawatts. This
roughly translates to around 3 million homes being powered. There are important factors that
have been considered when choosing which energy source(s) will be implemented. Source
location, cost of construction, ability to increase in production, operation life expectancy,
topographical location of metro area, projected population growth, sustainability factors, and
budgets are some of these factors. After all information and projections have been considered,
the following energy plan is proposed for the city if Springfield and its metro area.
