Revenge Effect of cell phones (Smart Phones)
I believe that cellphones have become a huge distraction and problems in our society today. We cannot go anywhere without or a day without because we have become addicted to it like if our life depend on it. “Technological developments nearly always have “revenge effect” (Tenner, 1997). I do agree with Tenner. Technology has some type of effect to each one of us some way. People have become lazy due to technology and I am guilty as well. For example, when I am home I text my siblings even our room are close to each other, no one wants to get up and go to each other room instead we text each other to talk rather than face to face dialogue.
“We are creating and encouraging a culture of distraction where we are increasingly disconnected from the people and events around us and increasingly unable to engage in long-form thinking”. ( Kraus, 2012). I think sometimes we forget why cell phones were invented. Cell phones have eliminated face to face conversation people used to have. It has become part of our life and personalities.
Technology has changed the way we view and do things. We rather text instead of calling one another or visiting them in person .Cell phones have become such a distraction in our life without us realizing. Nowadays little kids are so advance in technology. They know how to use smart phones and tablet. For example, my neighbor gave his little son an iPhone so that he won’t bother them and they can be at peace. I don’t think it right because at a young age, parents should teach their kids to kids so they can get used to it at a young age rather than giving them smartphone to distract them. The same goes to us students and adults as well.
