Self Evaluation

As a student in general, I have a strong work ethic and I am a very good listener, sometimes we make ourselves think that it is hard to practice the good skills we all have, but it really is not. We all have strengths and weaknesses, like I said before, one of my strengths is listening, that helps me succeed in my classes and it helps me get good grades. I am grateful I have it because, in each one of my classes, you have to be a good listener to understand what the teachers are trying to teach us.

Some of my classes are Spanish, which is very easy for me, I am very good at reading and writing in Spanish; Chemistry, which I struggle a little bit in, but I put all my effort when doing my work and studying; World History, which is a really good class, I have to pay attention to the teacher’s lessons since if I do not listen it will be really difficult for me to understand and do my work; and well, English class, it is a challenging class but It has helped me improve myself on my reading skills, now I can analyze the book without getting frustrated, I really like this class because it shows my strong sides in school such as listening, vocabulary, reading and writing.

English class mostly improves my reading and writing skills, one of my weaknesses in English is when it comes to pronouns, nouns, direct object, indirect object, and all of those rules, they kill me! I try my hardest to remember where to use them, but it gets really hard. Another weakness of mine, is presenting in front of people, it’s the hardest thing for me. It gets really hard, because I get shy, and I run out of words, I get really nervous and sometimes I do not know what to say, I feel like everybody’s staring at me and criticizing me if I mess up, but as I was before, I have gotten a lot better because I actually had to present in front of people this semester, which I think it has helped me a lot, I know it takes a long time but my goal is to improve them and get better at them little by little. In reading, I would give myself a 4 which is a decent score, in writing I would give myself a 5 which is also a decent, when it comes to being a good listener I give myself an 8 which would be a really good score, in speaking I would give myself a 1 which is POOR, and when it comes to thinking I would get a 3 which is not that good.

When it comes to my writing skills, some of my strengths are: punctuation and vocabulary, I do not really have problems punctuating, I know how to use commas, periods, semi colons, colons. And also on vocabulary, I do not really make mistakes, I always double-check my work before turning it in; and some of my weaknesses are thinking about what to write, it takes me a lot of time, and also when writing I get distracted really fast, let’s say I am already into the subject and somebody talks to me, I forget what I am writing and I have to start thinking all over again. So that way I can remember what I was writing about.
