True Love in War

Love and war, two concepts that are so contradictory it is hard to believe they could ever coexist simultaneously in one society. War is a state of conflict, hostility and chaos which wreaks havoc on civilizations as opposing forces struggle to defend their cause not matter what the price. The writer of the story “Kurt Seyt and Shura”, Nermin Bezmen, portrays how love is being changed throughout her book as a result of war, great love and revolution.

This drama starts when Colonel Eminof (Kurt Seyt), friend Petro Borinsky shot his own soldier.  Throughout the book, the writer explains how important the life of the soldier to the Colonel Eminof is. As a result of that event, as quoted in the book, Colonel Eminof addresses Petro:

A beautiful, innocent young lady, Shura walks in the ball. Seyt eyes are not taken off her beauty. Celil interrupts:

“Looking at someone is not kissing her, at 12 the bet is over! He laughs”.

“She is too young to play such games; I call the deal off, Seyt replies”

They stare the whole night at each other, however; no one speaks to the other yet. Each one of them is dancing with a partner. Later that night, they introduce each other to one another. Seyt quotes according to the story of Nermin, he says: “If I have a reason to come back victorious from war, you (Shura) are my reason.” Shura blushes, and she replies saying
