Who Should Have the Ability to Punish Student for Cyber Bullying?

Since bullying has increased over the years, Cyberbullying has become harder to control by parents, teachers, and peers. Social media plays a tremendous role in our everyday life. When there is more people on social media, it causes cyberbullying to increase. Because cyber bullying does not just occur at home but it can occur at school, work, at the park, in a group, and chat rooms, who should punish the child for it. Should schools or parents be able to punish the child? Cyber bullying is getting out of control because kids are getting away with it.Cyber Bullying is a known problem all across the world. More and more people are standing up against it, but there are still a lot of cyber bullies in the world. Cyberbullying goes unnoticed as actual bullying most of the time, but cyberbullying can be very harmful, and sometimes even fatal.
Cyber bullying occurs everywhere on many different devices. When this happens the parent should be able to punish the students instead of the school. Cyber bullying mainly happens after school on a social media device, so the school has no control over the student after school hours. According to Social Media Bullying “ The School should only have the authority to punish students for behaviors that took places on school grounds and during school hours.” This means if it didn't happen at school then the school has no authority to take action about it. Another reason why the school shouldn’t punish the students is because they will still have access to social media, so they can repeat their action . According to Cyberbullying Research Center, an organization founded by two criminologists who defined bullying as "willful and repeated harm” inflicted through phones and computers, said one in five middle-school students had been affected by cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is wrong and we should stop it fast.
