Abstract:

Cyber bullying is the new kind of harassment that the young people are experiencing in today's digital age. Moreover, cyber bullying is noted to be an evolved face of traditional bullying, with the difference that bullying happens via text messaging, email, photo and video clips, and the likes. Instead of physical pain, emotional and psychological pain is more common in this kind of bullying. Though, like traditional bullying, cyber bullying can occur at different ages and between different genders, which means that anyone in the group of young people and even adults may experience this kind of bullying. This study investigates the results of cyber bullying and its relation to technology ease of use and human reactions.  This study found the cyber bullying results are affected by the age of victims as well as their reactions to the bullying, while the study couldn’t prove a relation between cyber bullying results and technology ease of use.

1. Introduction

As we enter into the digital age and as technology advancements continue to develop overtime, bullying has changed as well. The traditional bullying that people have come to know, gradually changed over time and became even more dangerous kind of harassment; cyber bullying. By definition, cyber bullying is any kind of harassment or bullying that is done through different technology platforms or tools. Cyber bullying may not hurt victims physically, but emotional and mental damage that this kind of bullying makes is far worse that physical hurt. This paper then discusses Cyber bullying results and the factors that determine its prevalence like the ease of use of technologies and how victims react to cyber bullying. Also, it’s contained analyzing the responses in form of descriptive, reliability, correlation, and hypothesis.

2. Literature Review

In one significant study, it was noted that Cyber bullying has become the new and modern form of bullying and harassment, especially in adolescents. As we enter the digital age, four common ways of cyber bullying are through text messaging, email, phone calls, and picture/video clips, and among these four, it was found out that pictures/video clips have the most negative impact for most adolescents. Like the traditional bullying, cyber bullying only have a few gender differences, which mean that both male and female are being affected. Moreover, adults may not be aware of this because victims usually do not say anything when they are bullied online (Slonje, 2008).
