Of Mice and Men
I. Why George should have killed Lennie.
A. One bullet can remove a life in one eighth of a second, which is what George had done.
B. George Milton had killed his best friend Lennie Small, which was a very hard thing to do.
C. In the book, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, George had done the right thing by killing Lennie.
D. George had done the right thing because he had stopped Lennie’s suffering, he did not allow the other guys like Curley to torture him, he had wanted to shoot Lennie’s guts out but George had not wanted Curley to torture him.
E. Also, he did not want Lennie to be alive because he did not want him to have a prison life with his disability, because he would be the main target of many other prisoners there.
F. And most of all, George had killed Lennie so he could no longer kill nor harm any other animals or human like he had done to many people on the ranch and in weed.
G. George had done the right thing by killing Lennie.
II. George had stopped Curley from torturing Lennie.
A. He had carefully planned Lennie’s death by not allowing Lennie to see the gun. He did not want Lennie to see the gun because he didn’t want to make him suffer.
1. George had killed Lennie himself because he remembered what Candy had said. “Dog”
2. He did not want the men to torture Lennie and decided to quickly finish Lennie off himself so he wouldn’t even feel it.
B. Some would say it was wrong for George to kill Lennie, although if he had not
1. Curley and the other guys would have killed Lennie themselves but they would not have shot him in the back of the head…
2. The guys would have shot Lennie in the stomach to see his inside come out of him.
C. George had stopped Lennie from having a terrible death, and instead made it quick and painless for him, but if they had not killed him he still did the right thing.
III. If the guys hadn’t killed Lennie, he would have gone to prison.
A. If George had not killed Lennie, nor the guys, most likely they would have sent him to prison.
1.If Lennie had went to prison, he would not have made it anyways because he would be the most vulnerable.
