ABSTRACT
With the increase in globalization and the westernization of the Pakistani society, the culture seems to be shifting and taking on a more westernized form. The growing influence of the outer world has had an impact on all aspects of the Pakistani culture including the values, language, clothing, festivities, role of females, food etc. and has resulted in the dilution of the culture and thus a change in our popular culture along with the loss of many important aspects of the culture. The purpose of this paper is to probe into why culture is important for Pakistan, the causes and effects of these cultural changes and any conspiracies against the Pakistani culture. Research into this issue has revealed that the main causes of change in the culture are due to globalization, technological inventions, the media, immigrations etc. and the effects of these changes in our culture have led to a few positive developments whereas given birth to many evils in our society. The paper also discusses the various steps that the government has taken to combat these outer influences and preserve the Pakistani culture.
