Cavalieri was an Italian mathematician. He is most popular for his work of optics and motion problems. In addition, he is known for his work on the problems on work of indivisibles, the precursors of infinitesimal calculus and the introduction of logarithms to Italy. He was born in the year of 1598 in Milan, Italy. The University of Pisa was where he was educated from. His theory was that, "If, in two solids of equal altitude, the sections made bib planes parallel to and at the same distance from their respective bases are always equal, then the volumes of the two solids are equal". The two dimensional case is used for regions in a plane that are included between two parallel lines.
