To be for or against capital punishment is a question that does not plague everyone, however, it does plague those who inhabit several states that carry out the death penalty. The death penalty has been a long disputed action in our history. Every time there is another person on death row due to have "Justice" served upon him or her there is a public outcry. Protests take place at the prison where the execution is to take place. The corporate world has even been involved in recent years. The current makers of the drugs required for a lethal injection have stopped making and supplying states making the execution even harder. States have even gone so far as to cooperate with each other on the gathering of the required "cocktail" to perform their executions. Many would argue that use of capital punishment is a way of reducing tax payer burden by lessening the inmate population. But studies have shown that the cost of putting someone to death can cost up to 10 times more than a "life" prison sentence. The reason for the high cost are the numerous appeals and the high cost of the drugs. Supporting the death penalty is a choice each individual must make on their own. Every person must weigh the pro's and con's of such a decision. The Merriam-Webster dictionary definition of murder is: the crime of deliberately killing a person. No where is it written that a state execution is exempt from this definition. How is a deliberate killing of a person by a state and its officials, not considered in the same light. You be the deciding factor.
