MIS 301 Case Write-up Assignments
Several times throughout the semester, you will submit a one-page memo to summarize your understanding of a case related to the course. The assignments are designed to get you to practice identifying and analyzing strategic issues and decisions in the business world. They are also an opportunity for you to improve your understanding of course material and practice writing in a business setting.
Grading Criteria
These assignments will NOT be graded on the stance you take or the side of the issue you support. Candor and creativity are highly encouraged. Rather, your memos will be evaluated based on how well you understand the material, organize your thoughts, and argue your point. For more information, see the grading rubric on the back of this sheet.
These assignments are due in hard copy at the beginning of class on the day they are due. (See schedule below). Per the deliverable guidelines from the class syllabus, any assignment turned in within 24 hours of the due date will receive half credit. Assignments turned in more than 24 hours late will not be accepted.
Content
1. Answer the questions for the case provided on Blackboard. Each answer should clear and concise.
2. Case analysis is designed to support and extend content covered in class lecture. Reference class concepts, vocabulary, models, etc. where appropriate. If asked for an opinion, you should support your opinion with fact and theory from the course material.
3. Pay attention to grammar, spelling, and formatting. Failing to attend to these mechanical issues will make your arguments less persuasive.
