Reflection Topic 5: Gender and Gender Roles
I can see how gender and gender roles plays a big part in human sexuality on a broad scale because of how different societies and different cultures around the world view it to be. The way that gender roles works is that it tells us how to act as men and how to act as women depending on what part of the world and culture an individual is associated with. Even though our culture especially in the United States preaches to us that men and women are more totally different from one another, the main difference that I see is probably only physical. I remember in human sexuality class where we did a little experiment on what a male and female thinks, the difference was far and few. I believe that the experiment and group activity was defining of what an orgasm was, and I was really surprised to saw how the whole class had a very difficult time telling whether a male or a female had wrote their own definition of it. I think that I found the whole experiment to be surprising was because of all the years how our society in the United States had embedded into our head that men and women are the polar exact opposites of each other, but the experiment shows that the biggest difference is physically not mentally. The topic also talked about certain theories that help us learn for better or worse about gender-role such as cognitive social learning, cognitive development, and social construction. Looking back through my childhood, I can see that cognitive social learning played a big part in my growth and understanding of what it was to be a male as I learn so much through my parents and peers through their actions. Gender roles is an important part of our sexuality and that changes in today’s society are having great effects on the way gender roles are currently viewed.

Reflection Topic # 6: Sexuality in Child/Adulthood
As a little child I did not know much about sexuality and I can remember that I did not even know what a condom is at nine or ten years old. It was not until further into my adolescence or teenage years that I started to really learn about sexuality in general because of the physical changes that had occurred in my body. As a little kid I remember that I did not know anything about girls and did not have much attraction towards them. When puberty hits at me and my teenage years started to roll around, I began to have a strong attraction for females because of the hormonal changes and how I see some girls to be prettier as funny as that might sounds. Since my parents did not really talked about sexuality with my brother and I when we were kids, I was able to learn a lot about sexuality at school through teachers
