Misunderstood
“Misunderstood: improperly interpreted; not appreciated.” He is a walking contradiction. He is like a book with a plain cover but extraordinary story. He constantly possesses the feeling of being completely exhausted but completely content. He is someone who people have a hard time describing and putting him into stereotypes. He is the kind of person who shows the world one person and on the inside he is someone completely different. He is like television static, cassette tapes, leather jackets, the smell of smoke, oversized headphones, but at the same time he is the ocean at night, rain, silent embraces, and falling asleep after a long day.
He definitely had humble beginnings. When he was born, his mother got very sick and after that he was raised by his grandmother. He does not talk much about his parents but when he does that is the only time he has been known to cry. Even without getting to see her most of his life, he considers himself his mother’s son. At the young age of 13, he started rapping without earning any money from it. He had to work exhausting part time jobs to make money where he would come home with cut hands and an aching back. People would worry and say he would ruin the family name if he made music, but he kept going. Though on the outside he would say that he did not care, the things they said gradually brought up worries for him. They would call him a know-it-all and tell him it is arrogant to make music and he would write, “I couldn’t reach No.1 with studies but I thought I could with music (724148).” Through his teenage years he began to struggle with self hatred, depression, and social anxiety all of which he still suffers from to this day. He does not just rap about love, he raps about his youth and being afraid of the meaning of life; he is unfiltered. “What am I doing with my life? This moment, it will never come again. Am I happy right now? (Intro).”
When he is onstage, he is in his element. He moves so freely to the music that it is a part of him. He has even said that if you took away music from his life there would be nothing left. Even though he is a rapper he does not use the sort of rap full of misogyny, he raps about himself and his story. He shares himself with lyrics like, “I know that it seems pathetic to not have a dream like everyone ‘Everything’s going to be alright if you go to university and do as we tell you’ I believed in those words but I’m living because I can’t die. (So Far Away).” He just wants to be heard and says fame does not matter to him. His deep voice makes him aspire to be radio dj but he is the definition of baby face. Everyday, he takes frequent notes of his emotions in case he finds something inspiring. His hardworking attitude shows when he works on music even on vacation because the scenery itself inspires him. He is a perfectionist so much that he will record lyrics hundreds of times,
