One day we will not live in the world that was given to us, but we will actually live in the world we dream of. I envision a safe, healthy, peaceful and better world to live in. And to make my dream become a reality, I think big but start small. I acknowledge my own limitations and weaknesses thus I start from where I am with what I have, because what I have is plenty.
The first step to achieve my dream is to make the people around me aware of the current situation of our society. Suffice to say, the Red Cross Manila Council had equipped me the vital foundation of being the catalyst for change through its various trainings and seminars. Like Maya Angelou says, “When you learn, teach; when you get, give.” Hence as a Manila Red Cross Youth Volunteer, I am ready to commit myself to give back by sharing to my generation the knowledge, wisdom and skills I acquired in Red Cross.
I believe in the saying that, “Two minds is better than one.” Thus educating others regarding the contemporary issues and problems of our society, will eventually leads to a greater chance of coming up with solutions that will mitigate or end the problem. Moreover, educating people creates a ripple effect of ideas. And sooner or later the ripple will turn into giant waves of concepts that will mark a change, a great contribution, a legacy. Making the world a much better place to live in. And so, I endeavor my legacy to help others achieve their own legacy.
Finally, Henry Dunant, father of the Red Cross, and his comrades had done their part to make their generation and the succeeding generations have a better world that once they dreamt of. Therefore, it is only right and just for us to do our part. And as a Manila Red Cross Youth Volunteer I embark to perpetuate their contributions to the world, their legacy, by being an advocate at the service of others and a sign of salvation to all. What would your part be? What would your legacy be?
